REFERENCE TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images
Why do my sunglasses look clear or opaque after AI scene generation?
Provide a reference that shows both the lens surface and what can be seen through it under a stated lighting setup. Review tint and transmission separately from reflections. A scene change can alter their appearance, but it should not turn a lightly tinted lens into an opaque mirror.
Identify what the reference actually proves
The visible lens is a combination of transmitted background, surface reflection and its own tint or coating. A bright reflected softbox can hide the view through a real lens; a dark background can make it appear much denser. The generator may reinterpret either appearance as the material itself. A single dramatic source therefore leaves important ambiguity. Do not infer UV protection, polarization or optical category from the apparent darkness of a generated photograph.
Prepare the evidence before generating
- Photograph the exact frame and lens variant with a simple midtone target behind the lenses. Keep the target separate from the sale item.
- Take a second view with the illumination moved slightly, keeping exposure and the glasses position recorded. Note which marks are reflections rather than printed details.
- Capture any gradient tint so its transition direction is unambiguous. Include the temples if the composition depends on their open state.
- For the first generated scene, preserve the source viewing angle and ask for subdued reflections instead of removing all reflection from the lens.
Example creative request and a review matrix
Illustrative request: Place these sunglasses on a neutral tabletop at the photographed angle. Preserve the actual lens tint, gradient direction, coating appearance and frame geometry. Keep partial visibility through the lenses where the source shows it, with restrained reflections consistent with the scene. Do not convert the lenses into clear prescription glass or completely opaque mirror panels.
| Observed symptom | Evidence to inspect | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| The target disappears behind a previously transmissive lens | Compare exposure and reflection conditions first | Reject unexplained opacity changes |
| The gradient runs upward instead of downward | Check the source lens orientation | Reject the reversed gradient |
| The eyes become clearly visible in a dark mirrored variant | Check the actual reference in comparable light | Use a supported view instead |
Make the release decision
Use a real controlled lens photograph for the gallery view that explains appearance most directly. A generated worn image can add context, but skin visibility behind the lens should remain plausible for that variant. Record the lighting setup as context rather than promising identical tint on every screen. Performance and protection specifications must come from the product’s verified documentation, not from this photographic comparison.

Frequently asked questions
Would a stronger polarizing filter fix the generated result?
It may change a captured reflection, but it does not establish the lens’s actual specifications or guarantee an AI result. Start by resolving the material appearance in the source photographs.
