Image remix / DECISION GUIDE

How do you update a reference ad after its offer has expired?

Use an expired advertisement as layout inspiration only after separating its offer from its visual structure. Confirm your own current message, remove unsupported prices and conditions, and review every rendered number in the new creative. Updating an image does not update the landing page, and Itemlume does not manage campaign expiration for you.

01 / HOW DO YOU UPDATE A REFERENCE AD AFTER ITS OFFER HAS EXPIRED?

Create an offer record before editing the picture

Imagine a reference ad with a price, a percentage badge, a promotional code and an end date. Replacing the brand name does not make those facts yours. Write an external approval record containing the intended product or variant, approved wording, applicable conditions, effective period and the person responsible for the destination page. If no current offer is approved, choose a product-led message instead.

Do not reuse a discount because its short number fits the layout. Likewise, do not turn “selected items” into “all items” to simplify a headline. The approval record should describe the commercial message before the image request, so the visual design cannot quietly become the source of the offer.

02 / HOW DO YOU UPDATE A REFERENCE AD AFTER ITS OFFER HAS EXPIRED?

Separate reusable structure from obsolete facts

Reference elementKeep only if usefulReplace or remove
Circular badgeIts visual role in the hierarchyUnsupported percentage or saving
Bottom information stripSpace for a concise messageExpired code or dates
Price comparisonAn approved comparison presentationUnverified earlier price
Shipping statementA current destination-appropriate messageBorrowed delivery promise

A campaign graphic and a product-feed image have different purposes. The Google text-on-image guidance addresses promotional overlays in product-image submissions. Do not assume that an updated promotion becomes suitable for every feed simply because it is now factually current.

03 / HOW DO YOU UPDATE A REFERENCE AD AFTER ITS OFFER HAS EXPIRED?

Choose between a fresh layout and a quiet text area

When the new offer has substantially different conditions, rebuild the hierarchy instead of squeezing those conditions into the old badge. In Image Remix, describe the approved message and explicitly exclude the old price, code and end date. If exact final typesetting cannot be verified, request a quieter text area and apply the approved wording in an external editor.

Generation can leave fragments in decorative signs, reflections or small background areas. A request to remove a number is not proof that every instance disappeared. Inspect the full candidate, including places that are no longer the main focal point. Do not hide an obsolete condition with a new large headline while allowing it to remain visible beneath.

04 / HOW DO YOU UPDATE A REFERENCE AD AFTER ITS OFFER HAS EXPIRED?

Proof the offer against the real destination

Read the downloaded creative and the landing page together. Check product scope, displayed price where relevant, code spelling and the effective period. Shopify’s product-page guidance recommends clear purchase information. The practical implication is that the image should not contradict the terms the shopper encounters next.

Use an independent review for changed digits and conditions. A visually convincing 20 can become 30 in generated lettering, and a tiny omitted word can broaden a claim. Itemlume does not verify your discount logic, store checkout or scheduled promotion. Testing those parts belongs in your external commerce process.

05 / HOW DO YOU UPDATE A REFERENCE AD AFTER ITS OFFER HAS EXPIRED?

Plan the end of the updated creative as well

Save the offer record beside the approved asset and list the placements where you manually publish it. Assign an owner to remove or replace the graphic when the effective period ends. A filename containing a date is useful organization, but it does not stop an ad or refresh a cached storefront image.

For the hypothetical campaign, keep an evergreen product version ready so there is a clear replacement after the offer expires. Inspect the visible destination after the change instead of assuming that a new upload replaced every copy. This article concerns promotional creatives; Amazon A+ content has separate restrictions, so do not carry a campaign price badge into an A+ module merely to keep the brand presentation consistent.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove the old date and leave the old discount?

Only if that exact discount and its conditions are currently approved for your product. A reference is not an offer record.

Will Itemlume schedule the new ad or stop it when the offer ends?

No. Publication, expiration and landing-page changes belong to your external campaign workflow.

Can I reuse this promotion in Amazon A+ content?

Do not assume so. Consult Amazon’s current A+ restrictions and prepare a destination-specific version without unsupported promotional information.
