Image remix / DEEP-DIVE GUIDE

How to remix an ad when translated copy no longer fits

Treat translated copy as a new layout input. Keep the intended message, but allow the headline area, line breaks and product position to change. A closer composition is not useful when it requires unreadably small text or removes an important condition from the offer.

Approve meaning before measuring space

Start with the approved message in the target language. Mark the product name, factual benefit, offer condition and call to action as separate parts. Do not let a layout problem silently become a change of meaning. For example, shortening “Removable divider for smaller accessories” to “Fits everything” removes the useful feature and adds an unsupported promise.

Ask a fluent reviewer to settle the wording before requesting a finished image. The Copy language selector directs generated text, but it is not a translation approval process. Keep the chosen market separate: an English-language creative for Germany still needs English wording if that is what you selected.

Identify what the reference is doing visually

Ignore the exact words for a moment and describe their role. Is the headline the first focal point? Does a short secondary line explain a visible feature? Is a price badge essential to the layout? This helps you preserve the communication order without treating the original text rectangle as an unchangeable container.

A reference with three short stacked words may be unsuitable for a long product name. Consider a wider text area, fewer lines of secondary information or a different product position. Do not distort the product to manufacture more space, and do not cover a distinctive label simply because the reference places its headline there.

Generate for the intended language and ratio

In Image remix, add the composition reference and the exact replacement product. Choose the target copy language and destination aspect ratio. Use style guidance when substantial text restructuring is needed; closer composition can suit a translation that genuinely fits the same hierarchy.

Supply the approved short copy and explain the permissible layout changes. If exact typesetting remains difficult, create the visual with a quiet text area and complete the wording in an external editor. Do not publish a candidate merely because the spelling looks plausible at thumbnail size.

Read the final ad in its actual placement

Review the exported image at the size a customer will see, then zoom in to proof characters and punctuation. Check that the eye encounters the product and message in a sensible order. Numbers, units and offer conditions must match the landing page. A reviewer should not need to infer a missing phrase from the reference advertisement.

Save the approved translation beside the asset so future ratio variants use the same meaning. A layout change for a second placement should not restart translation from memory. When the text cannot remain readable, simplify the message for that placement or choose a different creative rather than making every element smaller.
