How to handle small packaging text in AI product images
Separate recognizable packaging from readable product information. A generated image may preserve the overall label layout while changing individual letters or numbers. If the wording affects product identity or the buying decision, compare it with approved artwork and keep an exact text source outside the generated image.
Classify the text before asking for a new scene
A coffee bag can contain a brand name, roast name, net weight, preparation notes and a barcode. These elements do not all need to be legible in a small campaign thumbnail, but none should become an incorrect visible claim. Identify the words that distinguish this particular product, especially flavor, size and edition.
| Text role | Review requirement | Possible supporting asset |
|---|---|---|
| Brand and product name | Correct spelling and placement | Unobstructed front photograph |
| Variant and net quantity | Matches the selected sale item | Readable product-information block |
| Long instructions | Exact approved wording when displayed | Separate accessible text or document |
| Barcode or small symbols | No invented scannability or certification | Real approved package artwork |
Do not ask a generator to fill unreadable tiny text with plausible copy. Plausible lettering is still invented information.
Find whether the problem starts in the reference
Open the original photograph at full size. If a curved label is turned away, a reflection covers the flavor name or the focus falls on the background, the input may not contain usable text evidence. Retake the front view with controlled light and a position that exposes the critical lines. Include that view alongside the overall product photograph.
If the source is clear but the generated letters are wrong, the issue is output fidelity. Repeating the same request may produce a different error rather than an accurate label. Decide whether to use the real photograph for the identification view or correct the package artwork in a suitable external editor. Itemlume does not promise character-perfect packaging reproduction.
Protect the label through composition decisions
In Product images, describe which name, variant and quantity must remain visible. Keep the product large enough for the intended placement and avoid hands, highlights or props crossing the main label. A wider lifestyle scene can carry the mood while a separate front view carries exact product identification.
For copy that belongs beside the product, supply approved short wording and inspect it independently from the package. Do not use a slogan in the scene to conceal a wrong flavor printed on the bag. They are separate review problems. Keep long essential information as readable text in the destination page rather than forcing it into a tiny raster label.
Proof the exported image, then the destination
Compare the candidate with the artwork line by line where the text is intended to be readable. Check digits, decimal marks, abbreviations, accents and letter order. Review the actual downloaded file rather than relying only on a reduced preview. A crisp-looking image can contain consistently misspelled text.
After publication, inspect both the thumbnail and the opened image. If compression makes the product name unreadable, use a cleaner identification view or enlarge its role in the layout. Do not sharpen indefinitely: a sharper wrong character remains wrong. Record whether the asset is approved for mood, identification or detailed information so it is not later reused in a role it cannot support.

Frequently asked questions
Does a higher-resolution request guarantee correct label text?
No. Resolution changes available image detail, but it does not guarantee that generated characters match approved artwork.
Should I remove all small text?
Do not erase product information simply to simplify an image. Use an accurate source photograph and a composition appropriate to its role.
Can I add exact copy after generation?
Yes, in a suitable external editing or publishing workflow. Recheck the final image against the approved product artwork and destination text.
