Credits & account / PRODUCTION GUIDE

When is a higher-resolution generation worth its additional credits?

Pay for higher resolution when the intended placement needs more usable pixels and the account can access that tier. Establish product accuracy separately. A larger output cannot guarantee corrected wording, recovered evidence or a suitable crop. Compare a focused test with the destination requirements, then decide whether another request would add needed detail rather than merely a larger file.

01 / WHEN IS A HIGHER-RESOLUTION GENERATION WORTH ITS ADDITIONAL CREDITS?

Name the viewing problem before choosing a tier

Describe where the image will be used and what a viewer must inspect. In an illustrative ceramic-vase campaign, a small collection card needs clear silhouette and color, while a product-page zoom view may need more surface detail. Those placements share the product but impose different delivery needs. Record their actual display requirements instead of choosing the largest option by habit.

Check whether the problem is insufficient pixel detail, incorrect product information or poor framing. These call for different decisions. A label with invented words remains wrong at larger dimensions. A cropped handle is a composition problem. A tiny storefront derivative may look soft even when the original is large. Identify which condition you observed before spending on another generation.

Read current credits and available access together

1K10Enough for the intended ordinary display?
2K15Does the placement need more usable detail?
4K20Is the larger source necessary and accessible?

These are the current Itemlume standard image rates reviewed for this guide. Check the live pricing page and submission quote before a new request, because rates can change. Membership permissions and enabled provider options are separate from the balance. An unavailable tier cannot be unlocked just by having twenty credits.

Photoroom also identifies output resolution as a factor that changes AI-credit consumption; its amounts do not define Itemlume prices.

03 / WHEN IS A HIGHER-RESOLUTION GENERATION WORTH ITS ADDITIONAL CREDITS?

Make a small resolution decision record

Record the intended placement, chosen aspect ratio, required visible detail and selected tier. For the vase, define the approval question as whether the downloaded source supports the planned zoom without changing the rim, glaze pattern or body shape. Keep the same authoritative product evidence when considering another tier.

A new generation is a new candidate, not a controlled enlargement of the previous output. It can change composition and product details as well as dimensions. If a 1K image and a 2K image look different, do not attribute every difference to resolution. Review each against the source and its destination. This practical pilot estimates whether the additional request is useful; it does not measure a guaranteed improvement rate.

04 / WHEN IS A HIGHER-RESOLUTION GENERATION WORTH ITS ADDITIONAL CREDITS?

Use cost arithmetic without promising repaired detail

At the rates above, one 2K request costs five credits more than one 1K request, and one 4K request costs ten more. If you already generated a 1K image and then submit a 4K request, the two requests total thirty credits, subject to their actual recorded outcomes. The later selection is not a ten-credit upgrade applied to the earlier file.

Separate this arithmetic from image correctness. A larger canvas supplies more pixels, but it cannot verify the brand name, product dimensions or texture authenticity. When the source label is unreadable, improve the source or retain approved exact artwork through an external editing process. Itemlume does not currently provide a dedicated integrated enhancement tool that repairs a completed image by choosing a higher resolution.

05 / WHEN IS A HIGHER-RESOLUTION GENERATION WORTH ITS ADDITIONAL CREDITS?

Decide from the delivered file and placement

Open the original download, inspect its dimensions and review the required detail at a useful scale. Then examine the actual store or campaign placement. If the destination requests a smaller derivative, investigate its display settings before generating again. A 4K label is not an exact width-and-height promise for every aspect ratio; verify the returned file.

For the vase, retain the smaller approved asset when it already answers the collection-card question. Consider a separate higher-resolution source only for a concrete unresolved zoom need. Save the decision in a short placement/tier/cost/acceptance record. The ratio and pixel-delivery guide explains file shape; this decision determines whether additional spending serves the viewing job. Stop when the required deliverable is accurate and usable.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Does choosing 4K enlarge my existing 1K result?

The resolution selection applies to a new request. It does not retroactively change an already completed file.

Is the price difference the only cost of trying another tier?

A separately submitted request has its own full quote. Count both recorded requests when comparing production cost.

Should a wrong small label be fixed by purchasing more pixels?

Higher resolution does not guarantee correct text. Check source readability and use verified artwork or an appropriate external production route when exact lettering is essential.
