REFERENCE TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images
How do I show a cable connector without AI changing its pins?
Capture the connector face directly enough to reveal its openings, contacts and orientation key. Keep that evidence separate from a general cable beauty shot. A recognizable outer shell is insufficient when the generated inner face depicts different contacts or an incompatible physical interface.
Identify what the reference actually proves
Small connector interiors are often dark and partly hidden. AI may fill an opening, copy a familiar pin arrangement or mirror the face while preserving the outer housing. A specification name in copy does not establish the exact photographed construction. The immediate task is accurate depiction; electrical compatibility, supported protocols and power ratings require separate documentation and should not be inferred from the image.
Prepare the evidence before generating
- Identify the actual cable ends and variant. Photograph the complete cable so the relationship between the two ends is clear.
- Take a well-lit face view of each relevant connector, plus an oblique view that reveals any orientation key or locking feature.
- Label the end views in the private brief. Avoid mixing a socket reference with a plug reference as though they were the same object.
- Generate a simple composition that keeps important faces visible. Compare the face geometry and orientation before accepting surface finish or dramatic lighting.
Example creative request and a review matrix
Illustrative request: Present this cable with the photographed connector ends. Preserve each actual face, contact arrangement, keyed shape and locking feature. Keep the two ends correctly associated with the cable. Do not replace a plug with a socket, mirror the contact face or infer a different interface from the familiar outer shell.
| Observed symptom | Evidence to inspect | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Outer shape is right but the center is filled | Compare the direct face reference | Reject the altered interface |
| Two cable ends become identical | Check the complete cable and labels | Reject end substitution |
| A key moves to the opposite side | Compare the orientation landmarks | Reject the mirrored face |
Make the release decision
Keep a real connector-face detail in the gallery when compatibility is a central buyer question. A generated scene cannot verify electrical operation, rated power or protocol support. If the input does not show the interior clearly, recapture it instead of counting contacts from a blurry source. Accurate written interface information should accompany the image without making broader claims than the verified product supports.

Frequently asked questions
Can a connector photo establish that two devices are compatible?
It can help identify physical form, but appearance alone does not establish protocols, power profiles or operational compatibility. Use verified technical information for those claims.
