Logo studio / DECISION CHECK
Why is my SVG logo still blurry when I enlarge it?
An SVG file can contain a PNG or JPEG. Putting a bitmap inside an SVG container does not turn the bitmap into editable vector geometry. Check the actual objects and their edges rather than approving the extension alone.
Inspect content, not the suffix
Open the delivered file in a vector editor and select the visible symbol. Determine whether it consists of paths, shapes and intended text, or a single placed image. A developer can also inspect whether the SVG uses an image element with a raster source. MDN explicitly documents that SVG image elements can display raster files.
Mixed content is not automatically defective: a presentation illustration can intentionally include a photograph. The issue is whether the claimed logo master provides the editable geometry needed for a cut, stamp, embroidery or scalable brand asset. Ask about the intended production use before judging the file.
Ask for evidence of the promised deliverable
| Claim | Evidence to request | Failure signal |
|---|---|---|
| Editable symbol | Selectable paths and controlled shapes | Single flattened image |
| Independent colors | Defined fills or approved artwork layers | Entire image recolored as a bitmap |
| Scalable mark | Clean intended geometry at larger output | Bitmap pixels or halos |
| Portable file | All required resources included | Missing externally linked PNG |
Adobe’s SVG export guidance distinguishes linked or embedded raster images from vector type and artwork. Embedding solves a missing-resource problem; it does not solve a vector-geometry problem.
Review any tracing or redrawing
For a fictional generated leaf symbol, an automatic trace can create many irregular points and unwanted islands. Compare the traced result with the approved silhouette, inspect curves and test the smallest intended application. Do not assume that thousands of points make it more accurate. A designer may need to redraw the geometry and document any optical adjustments.
Use the vector asset inspection CSV as a manual record. Its sample row is fictional. Replace it with your own authorized evidence; the worksheet does not connect to or change any external account.
Keep the production boundary clear
Itemlume’s generated raster logo is a concept reference for this process. It is not a native vector export simply because someone later renames or wraps it. Record the approved path-based file and the editor used to verify it. A valid SVG container, correct vector geometry and cleared commercial rights are three separate approval decisions.

Frequently asked questions
Does every SVG contain only vectors?
No. SVG supports embedded or linked raster images.
Does embedding the PNG improve scalability?
It makes the resource travel with the file, but the raster detail remains limited.
Is automatic tracing enough?
Inspect the resulting geometry and intended production use; tracing can introduce defects.
