Can shoppers find the inside photo without guessing which thumbnail to open?

A row of nearly identical thumbnails can leave shoppers guessing where a useful view is hidden. Give each navigation control a distinct view name and a clear current-view context. Review the actual controls, not only the large image’s alt text: choosing an interior view is an action with a specific destination in the gallery.

Inventory views by the buying question

List the approved views in gallery order and the question each answers. A front photo, opened interior and clasp detail should not all be called “product image.” Retain the correct product and variant association while choosing names that help shoppers navigate. Avoid inventing “rear view” for a picture that actually shows a side angle.

W3C’s carousel tutorial supports keyboard navigation and communication of changes. Control-name guidance also applies to the navigation actions. Your maintainer should expose a useful name and current-view context using the chosen gallery pattern, rather than adding duplicated descriptions indiscriminately.

Make a useful view map

This fictional wallet has five approved views, including an open card compartment. A shopper hears “image 1,” “image 2” and “image 3” but cannot identify where the compartment is shown. The report pairs each control with its intended view. Numbering can help position, but the distinguishing view name supplies the buying context.

Hand over names without overloading the gallery

Ask the maintainer to inspect the accessible name of each navigation control, its keyboard route and how the current view is distinguished. Keep the large photograph’s informative description separate from the action that chooses it. A control can name the destination view concisely without reading the same full description twice.

After a variant change, inspect whether the view order or count changes and whether the names still match. Remove or rename an unavailable view in the approved navigation policy rather than retaining a label that opens something else. Do not prescribe tab semantics to a gallery that is implemented as ordinary buttons without reviewing its behavior.

Test finding a view without seeing the thumbnails

Ask a reviewer to locate the open compartment using the control names and verify the selected image. Then find the clasp detail and return to the front. Record confusing repeated names, incorrect destinations and lost current-view context separately. Repeat with the actual supported assistive technology and product variant.

Use the gallery interaction review as a manual review record. Sample rows are fictional. It does not connect to, import into or modify an external store or production machine.

Itemlume can help prepare approved detail or interior assets from appropriate references. It does not populate external control names or synchronize gallery order. This is a view-navigation handoff, not an automatic alt-text installation or a complete accessibility audit.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Are image numbers enough?

Position helps, but add useful distinguishing view context when needed.

Should control names repeat the entire photo description?

Avoid unnecessary repetition; distinguish the action from the informative image description.

What if an interior reference is missing?

Do not invent a view name or hidden product construction to fill the gallery.
