Product images / PRACTICAL GUIDE
How to plan a product image set without repeating the same shot
Assign a different buyer question to every image. Use the first view to identify the product, the next to explain a verified benefit, another to show context, and a detail image to resolve uncertainty. Counts alone do not make a useful set.
Begin with questions, not a target number
For a desk lamp, shoppers may ask what it looks like, how the controls work, how large it is and whether it fits a small desk. Seven attractive photographs from the same angle can leave those questions unanswered. Write the question beside each planned image before deciding how many to create.
In Itemlume, Product images separates white-background, selling-point, scene and other images. These roles change the creative request. They are a planning aid, not a promise that every channel accepts every image. Confirm the destination’s current requirements before publishing a listing.
Give each role one purpose
| Role | Example for a desk lamp | Approval question |
|---|---|---|
| White background | Complete lamp with controls visible | Can the buyer identify the exact product? |
| Selling point | Adjustable head shown clearly | Does the visual demonstrate a true feature? |
| Scene | Lamp on a compact working desk | Is the scale believable? |
| Other / detail | Close view of switch and connector | Does this resolve a remaining uncertainty? |
Use a selling-point layout that matches the information. An editorial layout can support one strong benefit; a specification grid works better for separate facts; a split composition can distinguish two verified uses. Keep claims short enough to read at the final display size.
Generate and approve one role first
- Open Product images and enter the product facts.
- Set counts for the roles you need; remove roles that duplicate another image’s purpose.
- Select the image to create and check its estimated cost before confirming.
- Review the first result against the source and brief. Continue with another planned role only after that review.
The workbench generates the current selected image rather than automatically spending credits on the full planned set. Treat the displayed plan as an editorial checklist. Results appear in the preview and completed creations can be found in My assets.
Keep a set coherent without making it identical
Carry the same product variant, lighting family and color treatment across the set. Change the framing only when it helps answer a different question. If a model is useful for showing scale or use, choose the same reference for the relevant scenes. Keep the product-only identification image free of a person.
Review the sequence on a phone before adding more images. If two consecutive images communicate the same information, remove one or change its purpose. This is a content decision, not an algorithmic requirement. A smaller, complete set can be more useful than a longer sequence of decorative duplicates.

Frequently asked questions
Does the planned image count trigger a batch automatically?
No. The current workbench generates the selected image. Approve that result before continuing with other planned roles.
Should every image contain an AI model?
No. Use a model only when it helps communicate use, scale or audience context. Keep identification and technical detail images focused on the product.
Where should I put exact dimensions?
Use verified measurements in a detail or specification module and inspect the rendered text. Do not infer dimensions from an AI scene.
