Can Content-Aware Scale widen my banner without widening the product?

Protection controls can reduce unwanted changes, but content-aware resizing is not a product-geometry guarantee. For an important packshot, extend or rebuild the surrounding layout while preserving the product layer whenever possible.

01 / CAN CONTENT-AWARE SCALE WIDEN MY BANNER WITHOUT WIDENING THE PRODUCT?

Work through the cause

  1. Keep a copy of the approved product at its original proportions. Identify background regions that may reasonably stretch.
  2. Try the resize on a working copy, using the available protection controls if appropriate. Avoid treating a skin-tone option as product protection.
  3. Compare circles, label spacing and parallel edges with the untouched source. If geometry changes, revert and use a separate background-extension workflow.

A concrete case (illustrative)

Illustrative case: a cylindrical jar sits beside a large quiet wall. Widening the whole composite can subtly change the jar and the spacing of its label. A separate preserved jar over an extended wall avoids asking a resize algorithm to judge merchandise geometry.

Acceptance and next action

Pass when the product has unchanged proportions and the added background contains no distracting seams. Attractive empty space is insufficient if the package is stretched. Inspect the actual output rather than relying on the name of the resizing feature.
