Identify what the reference actually proves

A flat foil shape can look continuous in artwork and still change appearance at a crease after production. A render often treats the finish as a perfect flexible metallic skin. It therefore conceals the question that matters: what happens to the selected materials at the actual fold? Do not solve that uncertainty by widening the highlight in the concept image or assigning a universal safe distance without supplier input.

Prepare the evidence before generating

1. Mark the foil geometry and the supplier’s current crease lines in the approved artwork revision. Keep finish instructions separate from decorative shine in the mockup.
2. Ask the producer which material combination and forming process the sample represents. Record substitutions rather than accepting a visually similar paper as equivalent.
3. Review the physical sample flat and after its intended folding sequence. Photograph the fold under lighting that reveals interruptions without inventing a defect.
4. If a change is needed, agree whether to move the foil, alter its geometry or revise the production process. Obtain an updated sample before treating the issue as resolved.

Do not depict the concept as a tested production sample or imply that the finish is crack-resistant. The physical foil-and-crease sample will determine the production decision.

Keep a sample photograph and its material record with the final artwork revision. This workflow does not prescribe a universal foil specification or replace the producer’s process expertise. If the combination has not been tested, describe the image as a concept. The useful output from AI is a discussion of appearance, while physical evidence determines whether that appearance is achievable for the selected production run.
