REFERENCE TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images
Why do necklace chain links merge together in AI product photos?
Give the generator a reference in which individual links and their openings are visible. A smooth silver outline cannot establish how a chain is constructed. Review the path through adjoining links separately from shine: a polished result with fused openings depicts a different necklace.
Identify what the reference actually proves
A fine chain can become a continuous ribbon when glare covers the gaps, neighboring links overlap, or a cutout fills small interior spaces. Increasing sharpness may outline the ribbon more strongly without recovering its construction. First enlarge the untouched source. Follow a short segment from the pendant toward the clasp and ask whether you can distinguish the alternating links. If not, the missing evidence begins before generation. A camera angle that is excellent for the pendant may still be unsuitable for its chain.
Prepare the evidence before generating
- Lay the chain without stretching it and separate accidental tangles. Photograph the complete sale item, including its clasp, before taking any close views.
- Choose one representative segment and move a broad light or a small dark card until the link edges separate from their reflections. Keep the camera and necklace fixed during this comparison.
- Capture the segment at enough magnification to see the openings, plus the point where it joins the pendant. Keep the same chain edition in every reference.
- Use the complete view as the primary reference and the close view as construction evidence. Start with a restrained scene rather than a new hanging pose that hides the segment.
Example creative request and a review matrix
Illustrative request: Place this necklace on a plain warm-gray surface. Preserve the alternating oval links, every visible opening, the pendant attachment and the actual clasp. Keep the chain relaxed in its photographed arrangement. Add soft studio illumination; do not replace the chain with a smooth cord or add links for symmetry. The close reference explains construction, not an additional necklace to include.
| Observed symptom | Evidence to inspect | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| The outline looks right but holes disappear | Trace three adjoining links in the original and result | Reject the fused segment |
| A highlight resembles an extra link | Compare a second lighting reference | Resolve the ambiguity before approval |
| The clasp changes to a larger decorative part | Check the complete source, not just the macro | Reject the changed hardware |
Make the release decision
Approve a useful display size first, then examine the segment at the resolution buyers can open. Do not claim that every hidden link has been verified from one visible section. If maintaining the actual chain remains unreliable, use the genuine necklace photograph for the informative gallery view and reserve generated scenery for a clearly reviewed supplementary image. The record should identify the failed segment so the next attempt changes evidence rather than merely requesting more luxury.

Frequently asked questions
Will uploading a pendant close-up fix the chain?
Only if that image also resolves the chain construction. A sharper pendant does not supply evidence about links outside the crop.
