REFERENCE TROUBLESHOOTING / Product images
How do I keep mosaic-tile spacing accurate in an AI room mockup?
Provide a genuine sheet reference with tile-to-tile spacing visible and distinguish it from the joint between installed sheets. AI should not make a seamless decorative pattern that erases installation boundaries or changes tile proportions. Use verified measurements outside the image when exact scale matters.
Identify what the reference actually proves
A mosaic sheet contains repeated pieces and gaps that may look like one printed texture in a room render. A generator can change chip shape, merge gaps or make sheet-to-sheet joints disappear. A tight cropped detail cannot establish the whole sheet, while a distant room photo may hide every joint. The useful reference set connects both scales without pretending the mockup proves installation quality.
Prepare the evidence before generating
- Photograph the actual sheet front-on with its complete boundary visible. Keep variant and finish identity clear.
- Capture a close view of neighboring pieces and their genuine spacing. Record any backing or orientation information relevant to the intended presentation.
- If an installed comparison is needed, use an actual supported sample that shows the relationship between internal gaps and neighboring-sheet joints. Do not infer it from a seamless texture.
- Generate a restrained room concept. Compare chip proportions, repeated orientation and visible spacing before evaluating the overall decorative effect.
Example creative request and a review matrix
Illustrative request: Create a room concept using this actual mosaic sheet design. Preserve the photographed chip shapes, relative spacing, orientation and finish. Keep installed-sheet relationships consistent with the supplied sample. Do not replace the mosaic with a continuous printed pattern, erase every joint or infer exact installed dimensions from the render.
| Observed symptom | Evidence to inspect | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Gaps disappear into one continuous surface | Compare neighboring-chip detail | Reject loss of construction |
| Chip size changes near sheet boundaries | Compare the complete sheet map | Reject inconsistent repetition |
| The room suggests a seamless installation | Check actual installed evidence | Clarify the concept or use a supported sample |
Make the release decision
A room concept does not establish coverage quantity, installation tolerances or slip performance. Use actual dimensions and appropriate product information for those decisions. If the intended installation sample is unavailable, label the image as a concept and avoid promising invisible joins. Keep a genuine front-on sheet photo where buyers need to identify the pattern and piece arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a seamless texture as the only product reference?
It may help discuss decorative appearance, but it does not establish sheet boundaries, actual piece proportions or installed-joint relationships.
