How to combine real demonstrations with generated product footage
Keep genuine demonstration evidence attached to the footage that establishes it. A generated supporting shot can introduce the product or set a mood, but placing it next to real footage does not make it another recorded result. Itemlume provides a short silent single shot; assembling and reviewing a mixed-source advertisement is a separate editing task.
Assign a factual job to every passage
Create a shot record with source type, product edition, intended message and the evidence it can carry. Distinguish a real recorded action from a generated exterior view. A genuine clip may itself have limitations: it could show only one condition or one setup. Do not turn either source type into proof beyond what its actual content establishes.
In an illustrative coffee-grinder campaign, real footage shows the actual grinder producing grounds. A generated kitchen scene shows the same product resting on a counter. The real passage can illustrate that observed operation; the generated passage provides atmosphere and identification. It should not carry a new claim about grind uniformity, motor speed or the quantity produced.
Inspect the implication at each transition
Watch what the cut suggests happened between shots. Moving from a real grinding action to generated perfectly arranged grounds can imply the second image is its result. If that result matters to the claim, keep the authentic result footage or change the shot order and message. A seamless visual join may make the evidentiary boundary harder to notice.
Use temporary labels in the editing review to identify recorded demonstration and generated presentation. These help the team track roles before deciding the audience-facing wording. Keep a clear description of generated or illustrative passages where needed for the intended use, and check the destination’s current requirements. This guide does not prescribe one universal disclosure wording for every channel.
Keep each claim with its supporting shot
| Proposed use | Evidence owner | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Show the observed grinding action | Authentic same-product demonstration | Keep the verified passage and its scope |
| Introduce a kitchen mood | Generated exterior scene | Use as presentation, without performance claims |
| Show the resulting grounds | Authentic result evidence | Do not substitute an invented result |
| Reuse a measured timing caption | The documented timed demonstration | Do not extend it across unrelated generated footage |
A caption spanning several shots can make them appear to share the same factual role. Time and place the wording so viewers can understand which passage actually supports it.
Match identity without manufacturing evidence
Check the color, label, controls and accessories against the same real SKU reference. Matching the look is necessary for a coherent advertisement, but it does not convert a generated scene into a recording. Creatify’s discussion of verified product claims supports treating factual constraints as a production concern; the shot-role record here is our original editorial method.
Avoid grading or cropping that conceals a variant mismatch between sources. For the grinder, a different lid in the generated kitchen shot requires another usable view, even if the edit calls it atmosphere. Keep unsupported interior views, material outputs and mechanism behavior out of the generated supporting passage. Visual consistency and claim support need separate approvals.
Review the whole edit with and without its message
First watch the picture alone and describe the apparent event. Then watch the full version with captions and audio. Ask whether the assembled message assigns a real result, test or customer experience to generated material. If it does, revise the sequence, wording or source selection before approving the export.
Save the source-type record beside the final edit and identify retained source intervals. A later adaptation must preserve those roles even if it changes length or format. A broad AI label cannot repair invented performance evidence. Use clear presentation language and suitable real evidence whenever the campaign needs to demonstrate an actual product outcome.

Frequently asked questions
Does real footage make neighboring generated footage evidence?
No. Each passage keeps the factual limits of its own source.
Can generated footage introduce a real demonstration?
Yes, when it represents the correct product and its presentation role remains clear.
What should the editor record?
Record each source type, product edition, retained interval, factual job and claim that the passage supports.
