Why does a product metafield work on a product page but disappear on my homepage?

Work through the cause

1. Identify whether the section has an explicitly selected product or another supported data context. Compare its setting type with the product-page setting.
2. Choose a suitable supported source or an explicit resource selection in a theme copy. Do not insert a hardcoded product claim merely to conceal an empty connection.
3. Test the homepage and product page independently, including a case with no selected resource.

A concrete case (illustrative)

Illustrative case: a care paragraph is connected to the current product in a product template. Copying the section to the homepage leaves no current product from which to obtain that field.

Acceptance and next action

Pass when the content source and fallback are intentional in both contexts. A section looking similar in the editor does not guarantee identical available data. Ask the theme developer for help when the required context is unsupported.
