Product images / QUESTION GUIDE
How should shoe images show the outsole without inventing grip performance?
Show the real outsole pattern and identify it as construction information. A convincing AI tread image does not demonstrate traction, durability or performance on a particular surface. Prepare an actual sole reference and keep any tested performance statement attached to its own evidence.
Choose the outsole question
A shopper might need to see lug shape, visible channels, heel structure or the difference between two models. Pick one of those questions instead of asking for a dramatic action scene. Photograph the sole squarely enough to inspect the relevant pattern, and include another angle when depth cannot be understood from the first view.
For an illustrative casual shoe, mark the heel perimeter, central channel and forefoot pattern. Record which features are visible in the real source. Do not use an AI close-up to establish a hidden rubber compound or internal cushioning layer.
Distinguish geometry from performance
| Image can explain | Image alone cannot prove |
|---|---|
| Visible lug arrangement | Grip on wet stone |
| Heel shape | Impact absorption |
| Actual wear marks | Remaining service life |
| Outsole coverage | Measured abrasion resistance |
Keep the explanatory caption within the first column unless the product owner supplies separate evidence. Visual metaphors such as suction, magnetic attachment or liquid repulsion can introduce a performance claim even without numbers.
Build the detail around the real sole
Use Product images with the actual outsole photograph. Ask for an inspectable detail view and neutral presentation rather than asking the system to redesign tread. Review the main channels, edge contour and handed orientation against the source. A repeated decorative pattern can look technically plausible while belonging to no actual shoe.
If the image includes both left and right shoes, inspect each one. A generator may duplicate a sole without correctly reflecting the construction. Keep actual source photographs in the product gallery if that view determines buyer understanding.
Approve the caption and crop together
At phone size, the chosen feature should remain visible without requiring the buyer to guess where it is. Use a short neutral label such as outsole view when no performance evidence is being communicated. Avoid adding a racing or climbing scene simply to make the sole feel more capable.
Read the shoe detail checklist for the complete item and orientation review for left-right relationships. Preserve a source-to-detail comparison and route claims to the product owner before release.

Frequently asked questions
Does an aggressive tread show better grip?
Appearance alone does not establish measured traction.
Can I generate an unseen sole?
Do not present an invented sole as the actual product. Obtain a real photograph.
Can I show worn soles?
Use real condition evidence and explain the purpose of the image.
