Image remix / DEEP-DIVE GUIDE

Do you need a replacement product photo for an image remix?

Upload a replacement product photo whenever the result must depict your specific item instead of the item already visible in the reference. With no replacement image, Itemlume’s remix request preserves the reference product rather than treating a typed description as proof of a different SKU.

01 / DO YOU NEED A REPLACEMENT PRODUCT PHOTO FOR AN IMAGE REMIX?

Decide which object the finished image should contain

There are two distinct tasks that can look similar in a mood board. You may want another composition around the same product, or you may want the composition to present a different product. Write that choice down before uploading. “Make this work for my brand” does not establish which physical object should appear.

For an illustrative example, a merchant owns a previous campaign showing its current ceramic cup. That image may provide both the scene and evidence of the same cup for an exploratory variation. A reference showing another company’s travel bottle cannot supply evidence of the merchant’s cup, even if the desired colors and atmosphere are similar.

Use reference-only requests for a limited purpose

A reference-only request can explore the treatment of the existing visible product when you are entitled to use that source. Keep the original item’s construction and visible identity in mind during review. The request does not become a verified new product design simply because the output looks different.

If the reference is used only for internal creative analysis, label the result accordingly in your own records. Do not later attach it to a sale listing merely because someone assumes every file in a campaign folder depicts your inventory. A polished candidate can be misleading when its product identity was never established.

The current workflow does not automatically identify ownership, verify a supplier’s SKU or discover your product catalog from a brand name. Those decisions require your source records and review.

Add product evidence when replacement is the task

In Image remix, keep the reference advertisement in its designated upload area and put the replacement photos in the product area. Describe the current edition, variant and any details that distinguish it from the object being replaced. A plain, clear product source is more useful than a heavily styled photograph that hides the label.

Review three identities before using the result

First compare the result with the intended product. Check silhouette, packaging, logo, visible components and quantity. Next compare it with the reference to locate details that were transferred accidentally, such as a promotion badge or accessory. Finally compare it with the destination listing to confirm that the asset belongs to the selected offer.

If the wrong item remains, do not fix the problem by changing only the result’s filename or headline. Supply the missing product evidence and create a new candidate, or choose a different source. If no replacement is intended, still verify that the existing item was preserved: reference-only does not guarantee exact reproduction.

Keep these checks separate from deciding whether the layout is attractive. An image can succeed as a composition experiment and fail as an asset for a particular product page. That distinction lets you reuse an idea without accidentally publishing an unsupported product claim.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Will typing my product name replace the reference item accurately?

A name can guide the brief, but it does not establish the shape, label and construction of your exact product. Upload product evidence.

What does Itemlume do when the product upload is empty?

The current remix request is directed to preserve the product visible in the composition reference, rather than inventing a replacement SKU.

Can I use a previous ad for my own unchanged product?

Yes, as an appropriate reference, but inspect the generated result and confirm the edition is still the one being sold.
