Product videos / FIELD GUIDE
How do you check product names and units in added narration?
Listen to the exact voiceover used in the final edit. A script can spell the product name correctly while synthetic or recorded speech pronounces it as another word. Numbers, abbreviations and units need an explicit spoken approval too.
Prepare a pronunciation sheet
For a hypothetical model name containing letters and digits, decide whether the owner reads the letters separately or as a word. Record the approved form in plain language or an authorized reference recording. Do not infer pronunciation from a competitor or from the model’s first attempt.
List the quantities and units the listener must understand. A decimal or abbreviation can be spoken incorrectly even when the subtitle displays the right text. Review the audio as an independent communication channel.
Use a spoken-proofing checklist
| Item | Reference | Listen for |
|---|---|---|
| Brand or model | Owner-approved form | Intended identity |
| Number | Verified value | Decimal and order |
| Unit | Approved measurement | Unambiguous meaning |
| Negation | Final approved sentence | No reversed promise |
Keep a factual reviewer involved when a pronunciation change affects a specification. This is not an invitation to rewrite a commercial claim for a smoother voice.
Inspect the final mix
Listen at a normal playback level after music and sound effects are added externally. Check whether the name or qualifier remains audible. A clean isolated voiceover can become hard to understand after mixing. Current Itemlume clips require external audio work.
Approve captions with the recording
Compare the audio and captions together so they do not describe different numbers or product names. Keep the approved narration file, script and edit version connected. Read voiceover timing for sequence planning and sound claims for the full communication.
A spoken-number repair
An illustrative voiceover reads a model code as an ordinary word and speaks a measurement differently from the approved script. Ask the product owner to confirm the intended pronunciation and value, then rerecord the affected sentence externally. Review the final mix after music is added and compare its captions. Do not let correct subtitles conceal incorrect audio. Keep the approved pronunciation sheet with the edit version so another voice or language adaptation starts from the same evidence instead of repeating the initial mistake.
