Can shoppers compare two product images without dragging the divider?

A draggable comparison divider should not be the only route to either product image. Check keyboard operation and a single-tap alternative independently. Keep clear labels for what is being compared; a sliding transition between two pictures does not prove a measured performance improvement or a genuine before-and-after result.

01 / CAN SHOPPERS COMPARE TWO PRODUCT IMAGES WITHOUT DRAGGING THE DIVIDER?

Define what the two endpoints mean

Before testing the widget, name both approved images and the question they answer. Two material finishes, an actual before-and-after photograph and a generated presentation comparison have different evidential limits. Put that distinction beside the widget rather than relying on a hidden caption. Check that either endpoint can be viewed completely.

W3C treats a non-dragging pointer alternative separately from keyboard access. Its slider pattern also describes keyboard values and labels. A keyboard-only improvement therefore does not finish a touchscreen review, and a pair of unlabeled pictures does not establish useful slider semantics.

Capture the blocked inspection route

In this fictional organizer store, a divider compares an approved white-background photo with a staged desk scene. On a phone, the small handle is difficult to drag precisely; with a keyboard, the control cannot be reached. The comparison is about presentation, not evidence that the organizer changed. The handoff must preserve those labels and both original images.

Request alternatives with equal information

Ask the maintainer for meaningful keyboard operation and a usable non-dragging pointer route, such as tap controls that expose either endpoint. A labeled side-by-side fallback can also let shoppers inspect both images, but the maintainer should verify that it provides the relevant comparison rather than hiding one result. If the divider represents a percentage, ensure its announced value has an understandable meaning.

Avoid moving the divider through a decorative animation while the shopper is reading. Test actual touch assistive technology where applicable; the W3C slider pattern warns that support can vary.

Verify honest and independent inspection

Ask a reviewer to identify a visible shelf edge in each endpoint without dragging, then repeat using the keyboard. Confirm the labels remain attached to the correct photograph and do not claim a physical transformation that never occurred. Retain full approved source images as separate evidence.

Use the gallery interaction review as a manual review record. Sample rows are fictional. It does not connect to, import into or modify an external store or production machine.

Itemlume may help create reference-led presentation assets. It does not install comparison controls, supply measured before-and-after evidence or validate your external widget. Theme changes and claim review need their own owners.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Are arrow keys enough for every shopper?

No. Also test a non-dragging pointer route and relevant touch assistive technology.

Does a generated scene count as a physical after result?

No. Label it as a presentation example with its actual evidential limits.

Can I show both static images instead?

That can provide useful inspection; verify equivalent information and clear labels.
