DELIVERY TROUBLESHOOTING / Assets & tasks
How do I batch a product folder that contains both portrait and landscape layouts?
Separate genuinely different layout operations rather than forcing every file through one crop. Photoshop conditional actions can branch on supported document conditions; they cannot judge whether a crop preserves a product’s important feature.
Work through the cause
- Define the portrait and landscape handling rules on copies. Keep a separate exception route for panoramas, transparent assets and already finished tiles.
- Record the two actions and use a supported condition to choose between them. Avoid commands that overwrite originals or depend on an unverified fixed filename.
- Run a small mixed sample. Compare the complete product and delivery dimensions, then review the exceptions manually before expanding the batch.
A concrete case (illustrative)
Illustrative case: tall bottles need added side space, while wide trays need added top and bottom space. Two tested canvas actions can apply those different treatments without pretending an automatic orientation check understands the merchandise.
Acceptance and next action
Pass when representative files follow the intended route and remain editable or recoverable. A successful action run only proves that commands executed; it does not approve the crop. Stop the batch if an unexpected document type takes the wrong route.
