Packaging studio / QUESTION GUIDE
How do you review a collapsible gift box in both flat and assembled states?
Review the actual box in its transport state and its assembled presentation state. A generated open gift-box image can conceal hinges, fold panels or fastening details that determine how it works. Keep both states in the handoff and identify which state each marketing image represents.
Obtain both physical states
Ask the supplier for photographs or samples of the exact collapsible structure. Record which panels fold and how assembly is secured. Do not reverse-engineer the flat state from a three-dimensional AI render. A decorative ribbon may not be the actual fastening mechanism.
For an illustrative gift box, the presentation state may look rigid while its corners fold for shipping. The visual direction should account for those folds without turning them into an unverified opening mechanism.
Create a two-state record
| State | Inspect | Image role |
|---|---|---|
| Flat transport | Folded panels and supplied parts | Explain delivery or assembly |
| Assembled closed | Actual fastening and alignment | Show gifting presentation |
| Assembled open | Interior and real insert | Show included contents |
| Repacked | Permitted real configuration | Avoid unsupported reuse claims |
The record does not establish durability, shipping protection or repeated-use performance. Those require actual evidence from the supplier and product owner.
Generate the presentation concept
In Packaging studio, describe the assembled visual direction and the known structure. Keep concept imagery separate from the supplier’s assembly instructions. Itemlume can explore presentation artwork, but it does not guarantee correct fold topology or generate an approved assembly plan.
Compare the concept with the assembled sample. Check corners, lid connections and any insert. If the generated box becomes permanently rigid or acquires a different latch, reject that construction even if the artwork is attractive.
Handoff both states with one design revision
Give the artwork reviewer and supplier the same approved concept revision plus the two-state evidence. Check whether a fold passes through a logo or whether assembly hides a message. Update the flat artwork and presentation preview together after any structural change.
Use structure selection and folded artwork review. The approval should name both transport and presentation states rather than saying only that the gift box looks premium.
