Product images / DECISION GUIDE
What evidence do you need before showing electronic connections in a product image?
A photograph can show that a connector exists, but its appearance does not establish data speed, charging behavior or compatibility. Before illustrating an electronic connection, confirm the exact product edition, the documented function of each port and the required cable or adapter. Keep an AI-generated connection picture separate from evidence that the setup works.
Separate physical appearance from electrical function
Imagine a desktop dock with two similar-looking ports. One may serve a different function from the other, even when the openings appear identical. A generated image cannot determine that function by making the connector look crisp. Start with the manufacturer’s documentation for the exact model and a clear photograph of the actual connection panel.
Make two lists: what the image shows and what the documentation establishes. The first can include connector positions, labels and the number of openings. The second can include supported input, output and configuration conditions. If the lists disagree, resolve the discrepancy with the supplier rather than adding a convenient caption to the rendering.
Document the complete path, not just two objects
A laptop beside a monitor does not explain how they are connected. Record the source device, the chosen source port, every required cable or adapter, the receiving port and the intended function. Note any power requirement separately. Keep the path specific enough that a reviewer can compare it with the real instructions without assuming missing parts.
| Proposed image statement | Evidence needed | Do not infer from |
|---|---|---|
| Port location | Exact-edition photograph | A similar model |
| Supported display connection | Manufacturer configuration documentation | Connector shape alone |
| Charging relationship | Confirmed input/output specification | An arrow or lightning icon |
| Required adapter included | Current package contents record | An adapter shown in a lifestyle scene |
A connection path can be correct while the cable is sold separately. Treat that inclusion statement as another fact, not as an inevitable consequence of the diagram.
Use photographs for the details that can be photographed
Capture the real port face with readable labels and enough surrounding housing to establish orientation. Avoid a dramatic angle that makes the front and back interchangeable. Pixelcut’s smartphone photography guide covers stable capture and useful views; apply those basics to obtaining the connection evidence, rather than to inventing a cinematic panel.
If the verified port is hidden in the only available photograph, obtain another photograph. Text can specify a port’s function but does not reveal its precise physical position. A second image of the correct edition is more useful than asking an image generator to reconstruct the side of an unfamiliar electronic device.
Create an explanatory candidate without implying a test
In Product images, describe the specific visible panel or setup that the supplied references support. In A+ content, use a specification or usage role when the explanation is useful. Provide only the documented relationship and state whether the cable is included. Keep exact diagram arrows and labels for an external layout workflow when the generated arrangement cannot be checked reliably.
Itemlume does not analyze electronic protocols, run compatibility tests or verify connected hardware. A visually plausible rendering is therefore a candidate illustration. Review connector counts, cable endpoints, product scale and any labels against the evidence record. Remove unsupported performance language instead of trying to make the diagram look more authoritative.
Check whether a shopper could make the wrong purchase
For the hypothetical dock, ask whether the image could cause someone to expect a cable in the box, assume every port supports the same function or buy an unsupported configuration. If so, change the explanation. Keep the necessary qualification beside the connection information, not in a distant paragraph that readers must discover later.
Before publication, have a technically informed reviewer confirm the approved path against the current product documentation. Retain the source version and product edition with the asset. When firmware, included cables or hardware changes, revisit the affected connection image. An attractive setup should help interpret verified information, never become the sole basis for a compatibility claim.

Frequently asked questions
Can AI identify a port’s speed from its shape?
No. Similar connector shapes can support different functions. Use documentation for the exact product and configuration.
Can I illustrate a cable that is sold separately?
Only with a clear, accurate distinction between a demonstrated setup and package contents, subject to the destination’s rules.
Does Itemlume test electronic compatibility?
No. The workbench creates visual content; technical compatibility and connection paths need separate evidence and review.
