How to locate product shape drift in an AI video

Locate where the product first stops matching its source before changing the whole creative brief. Compare nearby frames at the same display scale, then watch the passage at normal speed. This helps distinguish a changing viewpoint or blur from a product that actually gains, loses or reshapes a component.

01 / HOW TO LOCATE PRODUCT SHAPE DRIFT IN AN AI VIDEO

Start with a specific invariant

Choose an attribute that should remain true throughout the shot: a handle joins the body at two points, a cap has a defined edge, or the package contains one unit. A general complaint that the product looks strange is difficult to act on. A statement that the handle detaches from the mug at the lower join is much more precise.

Use the original product photograph to establish that invariant. The generated first frame can help compare timing, but it is not enough if the first frame was already wrong. For an illustrative kettle clip, confirm the spout opening and handle connections before investigating how either changes during the camera approach.

02 / HOW TO LOCATE PRODUCT SHAPE DRIFT IN AN AI VIDEO

Find the first bad interval rather than only a bad frame

Play the clip once and mark the approximate interval where the issue becomes visible. Then move through that interval slowly. Save the last clearly correct frame, the first clearly incorrect frame and a later frame showing whether the problem persists. Do not invent frame numbers from an assumed frame rate; use the timing information in the file or editor.

A defect note could read: the lower handle join is intact before the midpoint, becomes a second curved join during the approach and remains doubled in the ending. That tells a reviewer where to look and whether trimming the end could possibly help. A single screenshot of the final result cannot show that history.

Classify the visible change before choosing a repair

ObservationQuestion to testLikely next decision
Whole scene becomes largerIs this the planned camera approach?Check crop and framing rather than shape alone
Only one component growsDoes it stay connected to the same body?Reduce motion or replace the source
A detail is briefly smearedIs it blur or a new structure in later frames?Inspect neighboring frames at normal speed
A rear feature appearsWas that feature established by the source?Avoid the reveal or obtain suitable evidence

These are diagnostic questions, not automatic classifications. Generated motion can combine several problems. Record what is visibly wrong before deciding what caused it.

Use comparison tools without manufacturing evidence

A video editor can hold a reference frame beside the current frame. Adobe documents separate shot-comparison and frame-comparison views in Premiere. Use such tools to inspect the supplied source and the affected passage; comparison itself does not verify product dimensions. Adobe’s comparison guide.

Keep the same viewing scale where practical and avoid stretching one image to force a match. Different viewpoints naturally alter apparent width. Look for relationships that should survive perspective: connected parts, component count and consistent surface boundaries. If you export a still, retain the original clip and its timing so another person can find the same moment.

05 / HOW TO LOCATE PRODUCT SHAPE DRIFT IN AN AI VIDEO

Repair the smallest unsupported demand

If drift starts when the camera reveals an unseen side, simplify that move. If the error exists from the beginning, correct the first image. If the body is stable but an added shine becomes a false seam, reduce the lighting effect. These changes target the observed failure rather than replacing every setting at once.

Trimming is acceptable only when the remaining passage still shows the intended item accurately and tells a complete, honest visual story. Do not hide a misleading mechanism behind a fast cut. Keep the rejected version and a short defect record; a later successful result does not make the earlier file safe to reuse.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Is every changing outline a defect?

No. Perspective and motion blur can alter an outline. Inspect component connections and neighboring frames before classifying the change.

Can I approve a clip because its last frame looks correct?

No. Product errors in the middle still appear to viewers. Inspect the entire passage that will be used.

Which frames should I keep in a defect record?

Keep the last clearly correct moment, the first clearly incorrect moment and a later moment showing whether the change persists, together with the original clip.
